Hello hello! today we're going to do a blog review. And the blogger is one other than JUSTJASLIN. She is a 23 years old Singaporean who blogs about fashion, travel and music. She does reviews of items as well.
So overall, her blog follows a minimalist design which I personally love. Apart from having her blog, She also have an Instagram account as well as a youtube account which can be found on her blog.
We're only going to review the fashion part of the blog which is called 'outfit of the day' or in other words 'ootd' and also 'fashion'. You can go to the fashion category by going to the right side bar, all the way down under categories.
Under the fashion category, she talks about the place she went, fashion related. For example, a boutique and café all in one. How cool is that. She also talks about the award she won for 'Best Fashion Blogger'. Other than these, she also does moodboards for a certain theme that she's into. Like florals or mints colour. It is a very interesting to see.
Overall, it was a pleasant experience going through and reading her blog (:

ECOFRIENDLY FASHION
Have you ever thought eco-friendly and fashion to be in the same sentence?
Me neither. I was doing some research and came across it. Little did I know, there are some brands that supports being eco-friendly.
What does eco-friendly fashion means?
There is no one definition. It could mean about preserving the environment, using organic materials or even recycling the materials.
However, there are many companies out there who uses such term for marketing; without changing much of the production process. Also, such term doesn't define the whole process. Example, It may be labelled as fair trade, but it may not be environmental friendly. And likewise; the other way.
The product may be environmental friendly, but the other process for the consumer to receive their environmental friendly clothes may differ. For example, the fuel used to transport the goods over via a plane or a ship is being used.
So what is a better alternative than buying eco-friendly clothes?
Second-hand clothes of course! Well, the Earth require all the help it can get.
Alright, so what are some materials that the eco-friendly clothes use?
To list some:
Organic cotton, linen, recycled materials, organic wools
If you think that since it is eco-friendly, it would cost cheaper, well, you thought wrong. The price ranges from US$60 to US$4000. With prices like this, I would just stick to the normal clothes I get or buy second-hand clothes; in a way to do my part to help the Earth.
So what do you think? Would you pay such prices for such clothes?

STAIN RESISTANT CLOTHING
When someone mention 'water and stain resistant clothes', most people wont take it seriously. But its the real thing now.
Liquids literally slides off the clothes. When I watch a few videos, it reminded me of the hydrophobic oils or hydrophobic part of the emulsifier that repel water, (I study food science) and find it very interesting that such technology exist for the clothes that you wear.
There are manufacturers out there who are producing clothing that are water and stain resistant. These companies look at the lotus or the peach for inspiration.
The manufacturers uses a few nanotechnology to achieve such characteristics
1. Inspired by the lotus leaf
Characteristics of a lotus leaf: contain little waxy spikes on the surface of the leaf. It causes the moisture to bead up and just slide off.
A fabric treatment called 'Nanosphere", by Schoeller Technologies, adds nanoparticles on the fabric surface, allowing the fabric to have a characteristics like the lotus leaf.
2. Inspired by the peach:
Characteristics of a peach: Contains tiny hair like projections that will cause the liquid to ball up and slide off.
The fabric produced by Nano-tex contain something called the nano-whiskers. The material is durable and breathable.
With such technology clothes wont be able stain even if wine we to spill on it. Such technology is required for people who are clumsy, just like myself, who always leave behind evidence of what I had for lunch or dinner.
Other that clothes, do you this that other things could be water and stain resistant as well?

MULTI PURPOSE CLOTHING
MULTI_PURPOSE CLOTHING
One of the multi purpose clothing that I came across is targeted to the Syrian refugees.
The refugees originated from Syria and fled the country due to the Syrian Civil War that broke out in 2011.
It is a tent, sleeping bag and a storage space that you can wear as a coat.
As the refugees left, they do not have they belongings with them, undergo long, challenging situations. But with this coat, they are able to have a shelter to sleep as well as to store items in the pockets available.
The students from Royal College of Art in London designed the coats which is being constructed in a Chinese factory.
"Good design isn't about technologies and devices - it ha social heart and a role to play in meeting the needs of people facing impossible challenges," Hariet Harris, RCA professor.
The jacket is made from polyester film material, a material that is durable, light, soft and permeable to air and water vapour. Other than that, it is also rain repellent.
One of the major issues the refugees faced is the lack of proper shelter and warm. Thus a waterproof clothing is required.
The designers believed that they have help in their own way to find solutions to help solve the refugees problems as it is the biggest humanitarian crisis sice the second world war.
Even though it wont help solve the whole situation, it does help the refugees.
Other than refugees in Syria, the coat is also suitable for the homeless, who also undergo challenging situations.
